We would be honoured to welcome you to the opening of FIAC 2014 which will take place at the Grand Palais on Wednesday, October 22nd.
FIAC’s signature Hors les Murs projects reinforce its identity by investing venues of unrivalled prestige with outdoor projects in the Tuileries Garden, the National Museum of Natural History & Jardin des Plantes the Place Vendôme and the Banks of the Seine. FIAC also pursues its conference and performance programmes and artists’ films screenings.
A number of major events such as the inauguration of the Fondation Vuitton, the reopening of La Monnaie de Paris with a major show by Paul McCarthy and the 30th anniversary of the Fondation Cartier are already planned during FIAC week. After 5 years of renovation, the Musée Picasso will reopen and FIAC will collaborate with the institution on the organization of private visits for special guests. The recently launched Fondation Galeries Lafayette will continue performance programmes while construction of the premises, redesigned by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, is underway. This is Rem Koolhaas’ first architectural realization in Paris.
In terms of exhibitions on view in major Parisian institutions, the Centre Pompidou will host shows by Robert Delaunay, Frank Gehry and a new display of its contemporary collections. The Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris will stage important exhibitions by Douglas Gordon, Raymond Mason and David Altmedj. South-Korean artist Lee Ufan will be the guest of the Château de Versailles. At the Jeu de Paume, Garry Winogrand will be the focus of a significant retrospective. The Grand Palais will present a major exhibition of Niki de Saint-Phalle.
